We’re hiring a Senior Java Engineer to build secure, real‑time systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Apache Kafka. You’ll design scalable event‑driven microservices, collaborate across the stack, and shape a platform used in mission‑critical environments. If you’re a hands‑on backend engineer passionate about distributed systems, resilience, security and clean architecture — this is your next challenge. Work remotely from anywhere in the UK, with the option to use a London office when you prefer in‑person time. Team meetups are planned in advance, flexibility is the default.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience as a Java Backend Engineer / Senior Java Developer
  • Proven track record building and scaling Kafka‑based architectures in production
  • Deep expertise with Spring Boot (Security, Web, and Data modules)
  • Experience designing and maintaining event‑driven systems with high throughput and reliability
  • Strong understanding of observability, availability, and resilience
  • Experience working in security‑conscious, regulated, or mission‑critical domains
  • Skilled with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience integrating with AI development tools such as Copilot, Cody, or Augmentcode

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing or contributing to messaging or synchronization systems
  • Familiarity with zero‑trust architectures or encrypted transport frameworks
