As a forward-thinking and innovative studio, we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers. We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!
The Role:
Join us at Pixel Toys as a Lead Technical Artist and bridge between imagination and implementation, managing and mentoring a talented team of technical artists to establish best-in-class processes across the entire studio. Working closely with our art and code departments, you will design and execute sophisticated technical approaches that deliver on the creative vision while staying firmly within budget.
By proactively identifying new technologies and industry developments, you will ensure our studio remains at the cutting edge, utilising the latest techniques to produce high-fidelity, performance-friendly assets. Your day-to-day will involve monitoring technical pipelines from initial specification through to final in-game implementation, ensuring every asset fits within memory budgets and performance guidelines.
You will support Art, Engineering, and Design teams by resolving complex technical bottlenecks and creating detailed, accessible documentation for toolsets and workflows that the whole team can rely on. Beyond the technical, you will drive and refine best practices across disciplines, ensuring our standards are regularly reviewed for maximum efficiency and quality.
As a leader, you will break down high-level project briefings into actionable tasks, maintaining clear tracking lists for yourself and your team to keep development on rails. You will set a high bar for professional conduct, serving as an example for both internal staff and external partners through your work ethic and communication.
About you:
Joining us as a seasoned leader, you will have navigated the full development cycle, having shipped at least one title in a Lead Technical Artist or equivalent role. Your deep technical fluency in Unity allows you to move seamlessly between art and engineering, while your experience in shader creation and HLSL gives you the power to push visual boundaries.
You will also bring a versatile toolkit to the table, featuring exposure to C#, Python, and Mel, which you use to build tools and streamline workflows that make life easier for everyone on the team. Leadership is second nature to you, taking genuine pride in mentoring others and fostering a collaborative environment.
As a creative problem solver, you possess the rare ability to look at a complex technical bottleneck and find an elegant, innovative way through it. Above all, you are fueled by a relentless passion for games and a drive to create stunning game visuals that set new standards for the industry.
