Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent over a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile and VR gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously!

As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers. We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!

The Role:

Join us as a QA Manager at Pixel Toys and lead our studio's QA function, defining the strategic vision and championing a strong culture of quality across the entire development lifecycle, with focus around mentoring and developing the internal QA team by fostering a supportive, high-performing environment.

In this position, you will establish effective standards, processes, and testing methodologies that ensure our mobile free-to-play (F2P) title is exceptionally polished, fully compliant, and player-focused. Working at the intersection of studio operations, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Art, and Production to embed quality into every phase of development from early planning to live operations. You will coordinate resource allocation and testing coverage across internal team members, multiple time zones, and external QA partners to support efficient and scalable delivery.

Overseeing functional, regression, integration, and performance testing, you will streamline bug triage and defect tracking while encouraging the adoption and expansion of automated testing frameworks and practices across the studio. As a key specialist on build health, you will play a crucial role during release cycles, providing clear risk assessments, QA metrics, and well-reasoned go/no-go recommendations to production and studio leadership. You will oversee all platform compliance requirements, ensuring smooth, successful submissions to the Apple App Store and Google Play. By establishing and monitoring key QA metrics (such as defect density and resolution trends) you will deliver data-informed insights that allow the team to evaluate risks early, resolve bottlenecks proactively, and deliver exceptional mobile experiences to millions of players.

About you:

Possessing a rich background in QA leadership within the mobile or free-to-play (F2P) space, combined with a genuine passion for supporting people and elevating quality standards across the studio you will have a proven ability to guide distributed QA teams, mentor emerging leads, and build collaborative, productive relationships with external testing partners. You will also already excel at creating an environment where team members feel empowered to grow, refine their management skills, and deliver their best work together!

Your technical expertise spans the full spectrum of software testing methodologies, from functional and regression to performance and platform compliance, complemented by practical experience scaling automated testing frameworks. You are comfortable and confident with tools like Jira and TestRail, and you possess a thorough working knowledge of certification requirements, ensuring smooth submission workflows for both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

As a thoughtful and analytical communicator, you know how to turn raw metrics into clear, meaningful story points using reporting frameworks (in Jira, Power BI, or Excel). You excel at bridging the gap between technical details and overarching studio goals, serving as a trusted, collaborative voice during release readiness reviews. On top of this, you can articulate build health, technical risks, and quality considerations to non-technical partners in a way that is constructive, transparent, and always focused on delivering an exceptional player experience.

How to prepare for a job interview at Pixel Toys Limited

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
