About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented

Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team, supporting and delivering a wide range of complex, multi-disciplinary projects across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on highly regulated, technically challenging environments, contributing to projects from early-stage FEED right through to commissioning and operational support.

You will work alongside engineers from multiple disciplines, supporting plant operations, delivering technical studies, and contributing to detailed mechanical design activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Design & Technical Delivery
  • Support, deliver and organise mechanical engineering studies and multi-discipline technical projects.
  • Contribute to the design of mechanical processes across the full lifecycle: strategic development, conceptual design, detailed design, construction and commissioning.

• Produce and review key deliverables including

  • Technical notes & substantiation reports
  • Mechanical flow diagrams and flow-sheets
  • Mechanical drawings and layouts
  • P&IDs
  • Hazard and malfunction analysis
  • Technical specifications and supplier documentation review
  • Specialist Mechanical Studies
  • Support mechanical handling studies for lifting, transfer and heavy-duty handling systems.
  • Undertake studies relating to powder mechanical processes including transport, milling and compaction.
  • Support engineering tasks in highly regulated or high-active environments, including glovebox-based processes.
  • Provide technical input into mechanical dismantling and compaction technologies.
  • Cross-Functional & Technical Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively within operational engineering teams and maintain strong technical communication across project groups.
  • Build relationships within the wider technical community, including subject matter experts and specialist engineering partners.

  • Ideal Qualifications & Experience

While our client welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and transferable skills, the following experience is preferred:

  • Preferred Experience
  • 4+ years as a Graduate or Assistant Mechanical Engineer
  • Experience delivering mechanical engineering design across FEED, detailed design and technical specification stages
  • Background in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors
  • Experience delivering mechanical studies relating to handling systems, powder technologies and associated plant equipment
  • Understanding of design for manufacture, testing, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning
  • Experience overseeing contractors or supply chain documentation
  • Previous project exposure to Sellafield, AWE, Magnox, UKAEA or UKNNL (desirable)
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Associate member of a professional body (e. g., IMech E), ideally working toward chartership
  • Eligible for or already holding UK
  • Security Clearance (SC minimum)
  • Experience working on nuclear or other highly regulated industrial sites
