An innovative and internationally recognised organisation within the aviation simulation and training sector is seeking an Installation Technician to join its System Delivery team. This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing technical role supporting the installation, configuration, testing, and delivery of complex simulator systems across customer sites in the UK and overseas. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard while maintaining exceptional customer service throughout the installation and acceptance process.

This opportunity would suit someone with a strong IT infrastructure or systems installation background who enjoys a varied role combining hardware, networking, troubleshooting, documentation, and customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, installation, configuration, and commissioning of simulator systems
  • Provide technical support to Project Management teams during system delivery phases
  • Assist with the preparation of Bills of Materials, system schematics, scope of supply documentation, and licensing requirements
  • Configure and install hardware, software, networking, and domain environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and infrastructure‑related issues both remotely and on customer sites
  • Prepare and maintain accurate installation and site configuration documentation
  • Support procurement activities and hardware preparation for shipment to customer locations worldwide
  • Coordinate installation scheduling activities to ensure projects remain on track and within budget
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and freight providers where required
  • Support customer acceptance testing and provide high‑quality project handovers to support teams
  • Assist the bid and commercial teams with technical input, scheduling, and project costing
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality standards, ISO procedures, and health & safety requirements
  • Represent the business professionally at customer and supplier sites
Candidate Profile
  • Experience within a technical ICT, systems installation, or infrastructure support role
  • Strong customer‑facing communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently on customer sites or as part of a wider delivery team
  • Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to documentation and system setup
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required
  • Professional, adaptable, and capable of operating in fast‑paced project environments
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Experience installing and configuring computer hardware and networking infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems including Windows 10/11 and Server 2016/2019
  • Understanding of networking principles, LAN environments, domain accounts, and server infrastructure
  • Experience troubleshooting user, hardware, and software issues
  • Familiarity with VMware, Hyper‑V, or other virtualisation technologies
  • Good understanding of hardware specifications and bespoke system installations
  • Experience with cable management, termination, and installation best practices
  • Awareness of ISO 9001 or quality management processes advantageous
  • Basic civil engineering or installation experience beneficial
  • Previous experience within a customer‑facing technical role preferred
Qualifications
  • Good standard of education within IT, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience within technical delivery, infrastructure, systems support, or installations environments advantageous
