The Head of Regulatory Compliance leads the organisation’s chemical regulatory strategy, ensuring safe product stewardship, compliant supply chain communication, and uninterrupted market access across relevant jurisdictions. The role provides senior oversight of classification, labelling, Safety Data Sheets, UK/EU REACH, CLP/GHS requirements, and dangerous goods obligations, while enabling commercial growth within a robust compliance framework.

Core Responsibilities

• Regulatory Strategy and Governance: Lead the regulatory and product stewardship framework, ensuring policies, controls, and decision-making processes support compliant operations across all relevant markets.

• Chemical Compliance and Hazard Communication: Oversee classification, labelling, Safety Data Sheets, exposure communication, and customer-facing compliance information for substances and mixtures.

• Legislative Monitoring and Risk Management: Monitor regulatory change, assess business impact, and mitigate exposure under UK/EU REACH, CLP/GHS, poison centre notification, and dangerous goods requirements. • Cross-functional Leadership: Partner with commercial, procurement, supply chain, legal, and QHSE teams to embed compliance into sourcing, storage, logistics, product launch, and customer support processes.

• Team and External Stakeholder Management: Lead and develop the regulatory team while representing the business with competent authorities, industry bodies, suppliers, and customers on technical compliance matters

• Policy Development: Designs and updates the internal governance and compliance frameworks to keep the company within ethical and legal boundaries • Risk Assessments: Conducts periodic compliance testing and audits to identify vulnerabilities before they result in financial or reputational damage.

• Training & Education: Leads compliance training programs to ensure all employees understand regulatory requirements and company ethics.

• Reporting: Acts as the main liaison to regulatory bodies and regularly updates the board of directors on compliance performance.

Essential Requirements

• Experience: Typically, 10+ years of progressive experience in chemical regulatory affairs, product stewardship, or hazard communication.

• Technical Knowledge: Deep, working knowledge of UK/EU REACH, CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging), GHS, and ADR/IMDG (transport regulations).

• Education: A degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, or a closely related scientific discipline is preferable 260826

• Leadership and Communication: Strong capability to interpret complex regulatory requirements, influence senior stakeholders, communicate risk clearly, and lead specialist teams across functions and geographies.
