Ready for the opportunity to run something, rather than simply help run it?

You might currently be a Duty Manager, Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager, Hospitality Manager, Leisure Manager, Events Manager or Venue Supervisor.

Perhaps you’re already the person people turn to when something needs sorting. You can lead a team, look after customers, keep a busy operation moving and spot when something could be done better.

But, you’re ready for more...

More ownership. More variety. More opportunity to bring your own ideas and do something with them.

We’re recruiting a Venue & Operations Manager for Devon FA, in Newton Abbot.

The official title is Complex Manager, but don’t let that define the opportunity.

This is a broad role bringing together venue operations, hospitality, people, customers, events and commercial development.

There’s already plenty happening. The opportunity is to make more happen.

What will you be taking on?

You’ll have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a busy venue incorporating a 3G sports facility, bar and catering operation, events, functions and community use.

You'll lead and support a mixed team, oversee bookings, rotas, stock, suppliers and operational standards, and make sure customers have a great experience.

But this role is about more than keeping things ticking over.

We want someone who will look around and ask:

What could we do better? What aren't we doing yet? And where's the opportunity?

You'll help increase venue use, develop events and functions, build relationships with local businesses and the wider community and identify new ways to generate income. You'll also have the autonomy to turn good ideas into action.

Who are we looking for?

We’re deliberately keeping an open mind about where you’ve gained your experience.

You might come from:

Hospitality | Hotels | Leisure | Events | Sports | Visitor attractions | Holiday parks | Community venues

You don’t need to come from football, and you don't necessarily need to have been a Venue Manager before either.

What matters is that you’re good with people, commercially switched on, organised, practical and willing to take ownership.

You’ll be someone who listens before making changes, gets people on board and can challenge constructively when you see a better way and when something unexpected happens, your instinct is more likely to be “Right, how do we sort this?” than to wait for somebody else to do it.

What’s in it for you?

This is a chance to join an organisation with an ambitious vision for its venue and a strong team ethos. You'll have direct access to senior leadership, specialist hospitality support to draw upon and genuine scope to influence how the operation develops.

There’s already a good foundation, the opportunity here is to help build what comes next.

The practical bits:

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum
Hours: 36.25 hours per week - This is a seven-day operation, so the role will include evenings and weekends.
Location: Newton Abbot
Contract: Permanent

In return, there is genuine flexibility and a culture based on trust and getting the job done rather than watching the clock.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a satisfactory DBS check and must be eligible and willing to apply for and hold a Personal Licence for the sale of alcohol. Training and support to obtain the Personal Licence can be provided.

Curious?

You don’t need to decide from an advert whether this is your perfect next move.

If you’re reading this thinking, “I could do something with that”, we should probably have a conversation.

Apply now and Tracey at Pivotal Recruit will talk you through the opportunity, the good bits, the challenges and what the organisation is hoping the right person can help achieve.

Then you can decide whether you want to take the next step.
