A leading manufacturer of gas, electric and solid fuel heating appliances, supplying customers and dealer networks throughout the UK, due to continued growth, are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their established service team covering East Anglia and the South East, including Cambridge, Peterborough, Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich and surrounding areas. This territory is ideally suited to candidates based in the South East of England, perhaps around Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Cambridge, Ely, Ipswich, Colchester or nearby.

Reporting to the Service Manager and working closely with the wider technical support team, you will carry out warranty work, annual servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs on a range of domestic heating appliances. You will also support dealer showrooms and undertake chargeable servicing and repair work for customers. This is a field-based role and will involve travel throughout the UK. Overnight stays of up to four nights per week may occasionally be required.

The Role

  • Carrying out warranty repairs on gas, electric and solid fuel heating appliances
  • Diagnosing faults and identifying root causes
  • Determining whether issues relate to manufacturing, installation or user operation
  • Completing annual servicing and preventative maintenance work
  • Servicing and maintaining showroom appliances within dealer networks
  • Recording service activity, technical findings and repair details accurately
  • Processing customer payments for chargeable work completed on site
  • Ensuring all work complies with relevant health, safety and industry regulations
  • Returning faulty components for investigation and testing where required
  • Attending technical and product training courses

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Previous field service or maintenance experience within the heating industry
  • Experience servicing heating appliances or similar domestic equipment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email systems
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
