An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business in Exeter.
This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in Health & Safety, Compliance, Quality, Manufacturing or Environmental support who is looking to further develop their career within a busy production environment.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and operational teams, you will support the delivery of health, safety, and environmental compliance across the site, helping to promote a positive safety culture and ensuring adherence to company procedures and legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Health & Safety procedures and policies.
- Assist with workplace inspections, safety audits and compliance checks.
- Support the completion and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Assist with Accident, Incident and Near Miss investigations.
- Maintain Health & Safety records, reports and documentation.
- Support COSHH assessments and hazardous substance management.
- Assist with employee inductions, toolbox talks and Health & Safety training activities.
- Monitor PPE compliance across the site.
- Support fire safety activities, emergency procedures and evacuation drills.
- Assist with contractor management and compliance monitoring.
- Support environmental compliance and waste management activities.
- Liaise with managers and employees on Health & Safety matters.
- Assist with corrective and preventative actions arising from audits and investigations.
- Support external audits, inspections and regulatory visits.
- Maintain Health & Safety communication materials and notice boards.
- Provide general administration support to the Health & Safety function.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a Health & Safety, Compliance, Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering environment.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Experience supporting audits, inspections and compliance activities.
- Strong administration and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications Desirable
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- IOSH qualification.
- First Aid qualification.
