An established and growing manufacturing business in Devon is looking to appoint an experienced Production Engineer to support in-house metal fabrication and assembly operations, alongside an external supply chain. This is a hands-on, improvement-focused role suited to someone who enjoys being close to production, driving efficiencies, and supporting both existing product ranges and new product introduction.

The Role

Reporting into the Lean / Production Engineering function, you will play a key part in improving quality, throughput, safety, and cost efficiency across manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects across production
  • Supporting new product introduction from a manufacturability and quality perspective
  • Working closely with Lean, Production, and wider internal teams
  • Conducting feasibility studies and delivering approved improvement initiatives
  • Developing and maintaining operating instructions and production documentation
  • Supporting quality standards, change requests, and production reviews
  • Liaising with suppliers and external partners as required

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • HNC / HND (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline
  • Experience delivering manufacturing or continuous improvement projects
  • Background in sheet metal fabrication and associated manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of quality tools (DFMEA / PFMEA)
  • Confident communicator with good written and reporting skills
  • Commercially aware and solutions-focused

Desirable:

  • New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
  • Project management experience
  • Exposure to VA/VE, Root Cause Analysis, VSM, 8D
  • Experience in batch manufacturing environments
