Our client is a high-growth, data- and technology-led organisation operating at the intersection of retail, consumer and commercial ecosystems. With deep expertise across analytics, AI, platforms and advisory services, the business partners with complex enterprise clients to unlock commercial growth and transformation. Following significant capability build-out, the organisation is now at an inflection point and is seeking a senior strategic leader to help shape where it plays next. This is a newly created, exec-facing role with direct exposure to the C-suite.
The Opportunity
This role exists to answer one core question: Where should the business place its next big bets and how should those decisions be made? You will operate as a strategic thought partner to the executive team, bringing structure, commercial rigour and clear judgement to ambiguous, high-impact growth questions. This is not a traditional delivery or long-term P&L ownership role. Instead, you will move across priority opportunities - framing, sizing and validating propositions before they are built, scaled or intentionally stopped. It is the closest in-house equivalent to a top-tier consulting problem set — but with real ownership of outcomes and visibility at CEO/CPO level.
Responsibilities
- Proposition & Market Triage
- Structure loosely defined strategic questions into clear decision frameworks
- Assess new growth spaces across data, AI, platform, product and hybrid service models
- Evaluate market size, willingness to pay, scalability and defensibility
- Build evidence-backed business cases to enable go / no-go decisions
- Apply intellectual honesty - progressing, reshaping or killing ideas where required
- Executive Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CPO and senior leadership team
- Translate complex analysis into concise, compelling executive narratives
- Operate peer-to-peer with senior product, platform, and commercial leaders
- Influence direction without formal line authority
- Cross-Functional Orchestration
- Bring together product, commercial, finance, data science and platform teams
- Clarify priorities and reduce ambiguity early in the lifecycle
- Ensure strategic recommendations are executable in real operating environments
- Commercial Judgement
- Determine whether opportunities are best served via product, managed services, consulting or blended models
- Pressure-test cost-to-serve, margin logic and repeatability
- Balance ambition with pragmatic delivery constraints

- Experience in strategy consulting - specifically retail or CPG
- Exposure to retail, consumer, FMCG or adjacent commercial ecosystems
- Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguity and build robust decision frameworks
- Strong commercial instincts (WTP, packaging, scalability, cost-to-serve logic)
- Comfort operating in high-trust, exec-facing environments
- Experience working alongside technical and data teams without needing to be a technologist
Above all, you bring judgement - the ability to make decisions that stand up commercially and politically.

- Direct exposure to senior leadership and complex, high-value decision-making
