Austin Heating & Cooling – Thetford (Part of the Pitkin & Ruddock group) is seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to work within our service installation and maintenance team, reporting directly to the Branch Manager.

The successful applicant should have a good knowledge of both domestic and commercial plumbing and heating installations, as well as Natural Gas, LPG and Oil-fired systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planned and reactive maintenance on all heating and hot water boilers and package burners.
  • Testing and purging of gas installation pipework.
  • Working on associated systems such as pumps, valves, and fans.
  • Experience in domestic and commercial boiler and plant room installations.
  • Capable of installations using soldered and press fitting systems along with screwed steel pipe work.
  • Wiring small installations and electrical fault finding on systems.
  • Maintenance tasks that may include plumbing, ventilation, and other areas of plantroom maintenance.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Minimum Gas qualifications: Domestic CCN1, CENWAT, CKHB1, DAH1, HTR1, Commercial i.e. COCDN1, CIGA1, CORT1, CPA1, DAH1, ICPN1, HTR1, TPCP1 and CONGLP1PD LPG Changeover.
  • Minimum plumbing qualifications: City and Guilds level 3 and Unvented water regulations (G3).
  • Willingness to travel and stay away when required (with notice).

Preferred qualifications and requirements:

  • Industrial Gas, Oil or plumbing experience or qualifications.
  • PASMA scaffold tower qualifications.
  • IPAF mobile elevated working platform qualifications.
