Primary Job Responsibilities
- Report on trends and major news about private equity deals, funds, and management, leveraging your own reporting along with PitchBook proprietary data and research.
- Pitch and produce a wide range of timely content focused on original analytical feature stories, data‑centric market snapshots, and breaking news stories.
- Write data‑driven stories and analytical trend‑focused pieces using PitchBook’s best‑in‑class datasets.
- Collaborate with PitchBook research analysts and designers to produce unique, insightful journalism.
- Build and cultivate a network of industry sources.
- Actively contribute to the news team’s coverage plans and future initiatives to foster team strength and effectiveness.
- Attend major conferences or other relevant events in person, including some travel when needed.
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors.
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested.
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2+ years of experience in financial journalism or comparable analytical writing.
- Skill navigating data to find insights.
- Must be adept in firsthand reporting and research under deadline pressure.
- Write clearly and concisely with little or no rewriting by editors.
- Ability to create data‑centric graphics or other visuals that can tell the story.
- Translating complex financial and tech topics with an engaging and authoritative voice.
- Initiative and ability to pitch and develop your own story topics independently.
- Strong communication skills.
- Curiosity about a wide range of topics and trends.
- Proven ability juggling multiple projects amid various deadlines.
- Must be a team player who collaborates across the news team and other departments.
- Experience writing about financial markets and technology is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in‑depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily.
- Must be authorized to work in the United Kingdom without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
