We are seeking an outgoing and competitive Mobile Hydraulic Field Service Technician servicing hydraulic hose repairs in our Pirtek centre and on site in surrounding areas. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who can work well as part of a team. We would prefer experience in a mechanical plant or engineering background and will offer training for the right person.
There will be an after-hours call-out roster which is on a 24-hour basis that you will be expected to undertake, including weekends and bank holidays all year round. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to complete an online driving licence check.
The central role will be to provide a professional on-site hose replacement service to Pirtek customers. This role will include being part of a 24-hr ‘on-call’ rota with other franchise technicians. Candidates will be expected to actively promote Pirtek products and services to existing and prospective customers throughout their given territory.
The candidate is expected to maintain the highest levels of health and safety practice, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment where applicable.
The day-to-day management of a Mobile Sales and Service Unit (MSSU) will include:
- Maintaining sufficient stock levels within the MSSU as per a franchise-supplied stock list.
- Performing routine maintenance checks in accordance with the MSSU defect checklist.
- Ensuring the MSSU is kept clean and tidy inside and outside.
- Managing all Pirtek-supplied documentation within the MSSU, including technical and procedural updates.
- Providing assistance to centre staff within the franchise when requested.
- Attending Pirtek training courses as requested by management.
Good personal presentation and adherence to Pirtek policies and procedures are essential. Basic mechanical knowledge, good manual dexterity and physical ability, as well as good communication skills both orally and in writing, are required. The ability to present yourself in a professional and courteous manner to customers and staff is important. You should be able to work unsupervised and within time constraints, and effectively communicate technical information to engineering personnel.
Successful completion of the Pirtek induction and training programmes (based in Birmingham) and subsequent on-site assessments as requested by management is necessary. An ideal candidate would have a plant or motor trade background or experience with hydraulics. Work experience in a technical/engineering environment is advantageous but not essential.
Educational requirements: Full driving licence required.
