Responsibilities

  • Design & Implementation
    • Deploy and maintain IT and OT infrastructure solutions to support business and manufacturing operations.
    • Design and implement resilient networks, server environments, and cloud-based solutions.
    • Support/Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
    • Evaluate and integrate new technologies to drive efficiency and security improvements.
  • Business-as-Usual (BAU) Support
    • Provide 3rd-line support for complex technical issues across IT and OT systems.
    • Ensure maximum uptime of critical business and manufacturing systems.
    • Proactively monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot networks, servers, and security appliances.
    • Maintain strong disaster recovery and backup strategies to ensure business continuity.
    • Utilise the service management tool (e.g. ServiceNow) to record, update, and manage incidents.
  • Security, Compliance & OT Considerations
    • Implement and maintain GxP-compliant IT infrastructure within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
    • Ensure CFR Part 11 and data integrity requirements are met across all IT/OT systems.
    • Implement cybersecurity best practices, including network segmentation, vulnerability patching, and Zero Trust principles.

  • Infrastructure & Virtualisation
    • Strong understanding of VMware vSphere 8+ / ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Operating Systems
    • Windows Server 2003-2022
    • Windows Desktop 95-11
    • Basic Linux administration (Red Hat, Ubuntu)
  • Networking & Security
    • Cisco networking (LAN, WAN, VLANs, Routing & Switching)
    • Enterprise Firewall technologies (PaloAlto, Cisco ASA, Watchguard or similar)
    • Network segmentation and security (IT/OT best practices)
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery
    • Veeam Backup & Replication
    • Disaster recovery planning & high availability solutions
  • Database & Application Support
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2000-2022) is advantageous
    • Oracle Database (various versions)
    • PostgreSQL/MySQL (desirable)
  • General IT Expertise
    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS
    • Storage solutions (SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI)
    • Experience managing and maintaining HPE Synergy infrastructure/Nimble Storage technologies
    • Patch and vulnerability management
