The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering / Head of Mechanical Engineering to lead all technical operations across the business while also supporting strategic growth and client development. This is a senior leadership role combining technical authority, operational support, and client-facing business development. You will play a key role in shaping how PipeWize delivers projects, improves efficiency, and secures future work.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Provide technical oversight across all live projects
- Review and approve installation methodologies, sequencing, and engineering strategies
- Support site teams in resolving complex technical challenges
- Ensure consistency and best practice across all projects
- Work closely with the Tender Manager to validate constructability and methodology
- Input into engineering strategies during bid stage
- Challenge assumptions, programmes, and design risks
- Help develop efficient, buildable solutions
- Develop and implement engineering standards and procedures
- Oversee QA/QC processes, welding compliance, and industry standards
- Reduce rework and improve overall project quality
- Drive continuous improvement across delivery
- Act as a senior technical representative in client meetings and presentations
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, consultants, and stakeholders
- Identify and support new business opportunities within existing and new accounts
- Provide technical input to strengthen bids and win work
- Work closely with project teams to improve productivity and delivery performance
- Identify opportunities for innovation, modularisation, and efficiency gains
- Support resource planning and capability development
- Mentor engineers, supervisors, and technical staff
- Help build and strengthen PipeWize’s internal engineering capability
- Identify skill gaps and support recruitment planning
Requirements
- 10–20+ years’ experience in mechanical / pipework / industrial projects
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Strong background in site delivery and installation, not just design
- Proven experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership role
- Experience working on large-scale industrial or process projects
- Strong understanding of welding, pipework systems, and installation methodologies
- Commercial awareness and ability to contribute to winning work
- Confident communicator with client-facing experience
Desirable
- Experience with Tier 1 contractors or major subcontractors
- Background in both delivery and pre-construction environments
- Track record of supporting or influencing business growth
- Familiarity with modular construction or offsite fabrication

Location
