Job Description

Founded in 1895, the firm is headquartered in Minneapolis and has offices across the United States and in London, Aberdeen, and Hong Kong. The Financial Services Group (FSG) is part of Piper Sandler’s investment banking business. It was founded more than 30 years ago as Sandler O\’Neill and Partners (acquired by Piper Jaffray in 2020).

Piper Sandler in Europe has been one of the fastest growing and most active investment banking teams since the acquisition of the Valence group in 2020. The Financial Services team in Europe presents many synergistic opportunities given the strength of the franchise in the US. We are currently looking for an Associate to join our growing Financial Services Group in London.

The recruitment process will be composed of interviews and assessment centre in our London office.

Responsibilities

• Support deal execution
• Assist in the preparation of client materials
• Gather and synthesise quantitative and qualitative data
• Conduct industry and company-specific research and financial analysis
• Contribute to financial modelling/valuation analysis
• Project administration

Skills And Experience

• Minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) from a top-tier university, preferably with a background in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Business, Finance or Economics
• At least 2 years of experience in Financial Services sector or in Corporate Finance from either a bank/boutique advisory firm or the Corporate Finance, Modelling and Valuation, Transaction Services groups of a large accounting firm. Insurance backgrounds in particular
• Exceptional analytical ability, quantitative skills and financial modelling experience (e.g. operating models, merger models, Insurance modelling)
• Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise workloads
• Positive work ethic and a high level of enthusiasm, initiative, and leadership potential
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
• Proficient writing, verbal communication and client facing skills
• Acts with integrity, highly motivated with an eagerness to make an impact to the team
