An internationally recognised leader in the energy and infrastructure sector is looking to appoint a Legal Counsel to support the continued growth of its renewable energy business across Europe. With a strong track record delivering large-scale solar, wind, battery storage and energy transition projects, the organisation offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value developments from origination through to construction and operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded legal professional to join a fast-growing business at the forefront of the renewable energy market.

As Legal Counsel, you will provide legal support across a broad portfolio of renewable energy projects, working closely with commercial, technical, development and finance teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, including EPC contracts, O&M agreements, supply chain contracts and framework agreements.
  • Providing legal guidance on project development activities, acquisitions and disposals, permitting, corporate transactions, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and project financing matters.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on legal, regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to the renewable energy and construction sectors.
  • Supporting contract negotiations with customers, suppliers, contractors and strategic partners across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Conducting legal research and monitoring legislative developments to ensure the business remains compliant with evolving regulations.
  • Managing relationships with external legal advisers and coordinating support on complex legal matters.
  • Working collaboratively with senior legal leadership to structure legal processes, manage risk and improve contractual governance across the business.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified lawyer with membership of the relevant professional legal body.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience within the renewable energy sector, gained either in-house or in private practice supporting energy clients.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating EPC, O&M and commercial contracts within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Exposure to renewable energy project development, M&A transactions, PPAs and project financing activities.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives.
  • Experience managing external legal counsel and controlling legal budgets.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international environment where collaboration and adaptability are essential.
