A unique player in the UK energy development market is expanding its battery storage team with a new Connections Development Engineer, responsible for working on grid connection activities across a growing national portfolio of projects. This is a crucial role for the team, playing a vital part in securing and managing grid connections while supporting wider development activities from site identification through to delivery.

They develop, build, and operate flexible energy assets that help balance the grid and enable a lower-carbon future. You'd have the support of the Grid Manager, working as a part of the wider battery team, taking full ownership of grid connection applications and manage relationships with DNOs, IDNOs, and National Grid ESO. You’ll also contribute to early-stage project development activities such as site feasibility, planning support, and commercial negotiations.
- Prepare and submit grid connection applications to DNOs, IDNO and NESO.
- Review connection offers, assessing technical and commercial terms and identifying cost optimisation opportunities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external grid stakeholders.
- Support the development team with site assessments, landowner negotiations, and project identification.
We’re looking for graduates or recent graduates for this role, or somebody with 1-2 years of relevant industry experience. We’re also looking for candidates with a can-do attitude that are looking for progression into the industry.
