Piper Maddox are exclusively working with a renowned high voltage specialist electrical engineering company based in the UK. They work across a range of industries focusing on the renewable energy space whilst specialising in electrical power infrastructure and grid connections. This company are now looking to expand their team through the hire of an Electrical Design Engineer based in Glasgow.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll actively be involved in their Engineering team working towards their portfolio of high voltage projects. You will be responsible for the design of high voltage electrical infrastructure and follow projects from the concept to the construction phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of HV substations and electrical infrastructure (11 kV to 132 kV) – including substation building layouts, primary substation equipment layouts, busbar designs, primary equipment specifications.
- Protection & Control design – preparation of protection SLD’s, protection scheme specifications, protection & control schematics, protection coordination reports, relay configuration files.
- HV Cable Design – design and verification of cable designs, cable ampacity rating calculations & reports using standard manufacturers data and finite analysis software packages (Cymcap).
- Engage directly with clients, consultants, and DNO/TNO representatives to deliver projects on time and to specification.
Skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in electrical design, possibly within electrical contracting or utilities sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of power engineering.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects and meet conflicting deadlines.
