Piper Maddox are supporting a well-established and growing energy company in their search for an Electrical Design Engineer Lead. Specialising in ground-mounted and rooftop solar PV, alongside battery storage, they are looking for someone to lead electrical design on projects with grid connections up to 132kV. If you’re looking to progress your career in renewable energy, with a focus on solar PV and BESS, this role offers the chance to make a real impact on exciting projects.
Location: Essex
Salary: £55,000–£75,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading electrical design for solar PV and BESS projects
- Overseeing LV, MV and HV systems, including connections up to 132kV
- Producing and reviewing SLDs, protection studies, cable calculations, and earthing designs
- Working closely with DNOs, ICPs, project managers, and construction teams
- Supporting tendering, construction, and commissioning activities
Required Experience:
- Strong experience in renewable energy electrical design
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related discipline
- Knowledge of G99/G100 grid connection requirements
- 18th Edition (BS 7671)
- Proven technical leadership with a hands-on approach
