An established and growing clean energy technology business is seeking a Renewables Commissioning and Service Engineer to strengthen its delivery function. The delivery team is responsible for the end-to-end implementation of battery storage and energy management projects, from pre-installation through commissioning and aftersales support.
This role combines hands-on electrical engineering with project coordination and technical support, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and installation partners.
Key activities include:
- Supporting project delivery through pre-configuration of equipment and technical assistance to installation partners
- Assisting with procurement activities, including supplier liaison, goods-in processes, and stock management
- Diagnosing and resolving faults during commissioning and on existing operational systems
- Collaborating with engineering and development teams to implement new system enhancements
- Interpreting and producing electrical drawings to support commissioning and aftersales work
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of low-voltage renewable energy systems and demonstrate a methodical, proactive approach to problem-solving. Clear communication and the ability to explain technical concepts simply are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with project managers and third-party installers to provide technical guidance and on-site support
- Oversee and support system installation and commissioning activities
- Respond to and resolve system faults or operational issues as they arise
- Read, understand, and contribute to technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
- Diagnose and correct electrical installation issues
- Provide both remote and on-site aftersales technical support
Required Experience:
- Practical experience with electrical and control/supervisory circuits
- Good knowledge of electrical regulations, industry best practices, and standard components
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure and communication networks
Skills & Aptitude:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with a structured problem-solving approach
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and travel as required while collaborating with remote colleagues
- High level of IT literacy and networking competence
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software tools
- Full UK driving license
- Strong attention to detail
- Confident, proactive, and resilient mindset
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671:2018 – 18th Edition)
- Experience working in a fast-paced or scaling organisation
- Valid CSCS card
