Piper Maddox is working with the world’s leading Aircraft Propulsion system provider to find an Electrical Systems Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. The business has been operating for the last 100 years and has embedded itself as a world-class leader for power-dense, reliable, and resilient Aerospace systems. This position will see you developing electrical systems for high TRL Aircraft technology working with a global team.
What you will be doing:
- Spearheading the development of advanced technological solutions in power generation and distribution. Crafting precise product requirements and specifications by working closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems teams, as well as external partners and suppliers.
- Defining and driving capability projects by gathering requirements, preparing proposals, securing stakeholder approval, obtaining funding, and coordinating with relevant collaborators.
- Playing a key role in the research, development, and application of cutting-edge capabilities. Leading projects aimed at enhancing technical solutions.
- Addressing emerging challenges in technology, compliance, and business operations by applying analytical methodologies and expert judgment.
- Leveraging internal and external professional networks to expand technical expertise and enhance strategic partnerships.
- Providing leadership and technical direction to teams, guiding less experienced engineers, and offering mentorship.
- Contributing to the establishment and adoption of industry best practices, policies, and technical standards.
- Serving as a subject matter expert, ensuring critical insights and best practices are documented and shared effectively across teams.
What we are looking for:
- Strong experience in electrical power systems engineering – ideally within the Aerospace sector but open to Marine, Automotive, and Rail.
- Background in developing, implementing, and validating power systems that integrate electrical machines, conversion stages (AC-AC, AC-DC, DC-DC), and distribution systems.
- Familiarity with electrical system architecture analysis, such as Electrical Load Analysis (ELA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), along with an understanding of how architectural choices influence system performance and adjacent components.
- A systems-thinking approach, with knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, tools, and relevant industry standards (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, ARP4754). Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a plus.
- Experience in creating technical documentation, including requirements specifications, product design details, testing procedures, and schematic development.
- Understanding of safety and reliability assessment techniques (e.g., FHA, DFMEA, HAZOP) is desirable.
This opportunity will give you access to an industry-leading pension (double your contribution), annual bonuses, hybrid working, and the chance to work with a leading business that is aiming to change the way we fly forever.
