Job Title: Electrical Design Engineering Manager
Location: Essex (office-based, with site visits as required)
Salary: £65,000 DOE + Company Vehicle + Benefits
Piper Maddox are working with a leading renewable energy business who are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineering Manager to lead its design function. My client specialises in the development, design, construction, and maintenance of solar PV and battery storage projects, supporting commercial and private clients to cut costs and achieve carbon reduction targets. With strong growth plans and a collaborative culture, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a key leadership role within the renewable energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead the internal electrical design team, supporting development and growth
- Oversee all design projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and buildability
- Carry out and review detailed electrical calculations, drawings, and SLDs
- Manage G99/G100 grid connection applications and liaise with manufacturers
- Provide technical input across project lifecycles, from feasibility through to construction
- Engage with clients, suppliers, and contractors, providing clear technical communication
- Support compliance with NICEIC and MCS standards
- Implement structured design reviews and quality assurance processes
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree (or HNC/HND with equivalent experience) in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Minimum 5 years\’ experience in electrical engineering within solar PV and/or battery storage
