Job Description
Head of Quality | Wirral | Up to £60,000 DOE
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8am–5pm, Friday 8am–12:30pm
Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Head of Quality to take ownership of their Quality Assurance and Control function.
This is a leadership role where you’ll set the standard for quality across manufacturing operations — ensuring compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement. With a strong focus on quality assurance (QA) and the day-to-day leadership of the quality control (QC) team, you’ll be central to driving product excellence and operational efficiency.
(Please note: this role does not include responsibility for the Quality Management Systems (QMS)).

Key Responsibilities of the Head of Quality:
Quality Assurance (QA):
- Monitor and verify manufacturing processes against established quality standards.
- Conduct audits, identify gaps, and lead corrective/preventative actions (CAPAs).
- Partner with production, engineering, and supply chain to resolve quality issues.
- Develop QA documentation, inspection protocols, and reports.
- Deliver training to staff on quality standards and best practices.
- Track key metrics and provide actionable recommendations.
- Support supplier quality assessments and raw material inspections.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
Quality Control (QC):
- Lead, coach, and develop the QA/QC team to deliver high performance.
- Drive the transition of in-line process control into production teams.
- Schedule and coordinate QC activities to meet production demands.
- Oversee use and calibration of testing equipment.
- Review and approve inspection results, non-conformance reports, and product releases.
- Develop and embed SOPs and Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs).
- Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Compliance teams to align quality initiatives.
- Stay up to date with industry regulations and ensure compliance.

- Proven leadership experience in QA/QC, ideally within a production/manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of inspection techniques, root cause analysis, and CAPA processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (ISO, GMP).
- Excellent people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
