Pioneer Talent is recruiting on behalf of an established, highly regarded children's services provider for a Registered Manager to open and lead a brand-new therapeutic children's home in Staffordshire. This is not their first home and they have Good ratings with Ofsted within the portfolio. The right person will have real influence over how the home, and future services, are shaped, with genuine scope to grow as the organisation grows. The home will be registered for one to two children, with flexibility to support a sibling group where appropriate.
About Our Client
This home sits within a wider organisation backed by an established provider with 19 years' experience supporting looked-after children across the country. Our client is a Trust, rather than being backed by private equity or profits going into shareholders. Our client also runs its own in-house therapeutic service, the equivalent of a community CAMHS provision, giving children and staff direct access to therapeutic clinicians without the long waiting lists usually associated with statutory mental health services. The clinical team has a combined specialist experience of over 100 years, with training spanning PACE, DDP, EMDR and DBT. Ofsted has recognised the transformative effect of this specialist support.
What Support Will You Get?
- An Operations Manager described by a company director as one of the most child-centred people they’ve ever met, hands-on and in the home providing direct support when needed.
- Highly experienced Responsible Individuals providing oversight and guidance.
- An established, professional infrastructure with dedicated Quality Assurance, HR, Therapy and Finance teams.
- A network of fellow Registered Managers across the group who describe it as the best company they’ve worked for.
- Full support incorporating the in-house therapeutic model and other approaches into your practice, plus ongoing training and development for you as a manager.
- Shared on-call: typically one day a week plus one weekend in every four, or shared with a Team/Deputy Registered Manager where in place.
The Children You’ll Support
Our client specialises in supporting children with complex needs, often presenting with a combination of trauma and additional learning needs, and sometimes significant behavioural challenges. The right Registered Manager will be genuinely open-minded to working therapeutically with children through trauma, and comfortable holding a robust, relationship-based approach for children who need it most.
What We’re Looking For
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Proven experience managing a residential children's home, ideally in a therapeutic setting, with high-acuity or complex needs.
- Experience working in Child Protection and Looked After Children services.
- A track record of achieving strong Ofsted outcomes and sustaining good practice.
- A genuine, open-minded interest in therapeutic approaches to childcare.
- Resilience, warmth, and confidence making robust decisions.
- Confidence to lead a new registration and shape a home's culture from the outset.
- Full driving licence.
