Pioneer Talent is proud to be partnering with a person-centred, trauma-informed care provider to recruit a compassionate, patient and resilient Deputy Manager. The home is a transitional residential service supporting adults experiencing mental health challenges β€” including care leavers and people moving on from hospital settings. Support is built around promoting independence and self-sufficiency through positive risk-taking, delivered in a person-centred and trauma-informed way. In this role you'll promote independence, enhance quality of life, and provide practical and emotional support tailored to each person's needs β€” deputising for the Home Manager as required.

The role

  • Support the Home Manager and take an active part in the strategic development of the home.
  • Take responsibility for managing the home in the Home Manager's absence.
  • Develop the service to meet the Fundamental Standards of Care and Single Assessment Framework, ensuring full CQC compliance.
  • Safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of residents, promoting independence, dignity and choice.
  • Ensure care plans, risk assessments, guidelines and passports are co-produced with residents and families, reviewed regularly and kept current.
  • Oversee individualised, age-appropriate programmes of in-house and community activity.
  • Lead the safe ordering, storage, recording, auditing and administration of medication.
  • Apply the local Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults framework and manage all safeguarding matters appropriately.
  • Support recruitment, induction, training, supervision and appraisal of the staff team, keeping the training matrix current.
  • Ensure safe staffing levels and effective, well-resourced team leadership.
  • Support health & safety, COSHH and environmental risk assessments, and uphold emergency procedures.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial monitoring and expenditure control alongside the Home Manager.

About you

  • 3+ years' experience in a senior role within mental health and/or learning disabilities with challenging behaviour (essential).
  • Experience of staff management, supervision, disciplinary procedures and training.
  • A track record of leading a key area of service delivery.
  • The ability to deliver robust medication administration, storage and recording.
  • A working knowledge of relevant legislation for a residential social care setting (including the Care Standards Act 2000).
  • Completed statutory and service-specific training (medication, autism, challenging behaviour, communication needs, mental health, trauma-informed care, health & safety).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict-management and time-management skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Desirable: awareness of CQC compliance requirements, experience with digital compliance/facilities systems, 4+ years in a senior learning disability role, relevant management qualification, and a full clean driving licence.
