Job Role of the Transport Assistant:
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Transport Assistant to join a busy Sales & Transport team on a 12-month temporary maternity cover contract. This is a varied and fast-paced role, providing essential support to the existing Sales & Transport team and helping to ensure products are delivered to customers on time and in the most cost-effective way. You will work closely with the Sales Manager, Operations and Factory Managers, Supervisors, drivers, third-party hauliers and customers to coordinate daily sales and transport requirements. You will be responsible for taking customer orders, maintaining daily sales plans, arranging transport, monitoring stock, updating systems and spreadsheets, and communicating any sales or transport issues to the relevant teams.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Transport Assistant:
- Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and spreadsheets.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements for the Transport Assistant:
- Previous experience within a sales, transport, logistics or administrative environment.
- Confident communicating with customers, drivers, hauliers and internal teams.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to react quickly to changing requirements.
- Strong attention to detail when handling orders, stock information, invoices and transport documentation.
- Ability to work flexibly around the requirements of the business.
Desirable Requirements for the Transport Assistant:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, transport or logistics environment.
- Experience arranging transport using both company vehicles and third-party hauliers.
- Experience using business systems such as Niche or similar.
- Previous experience working with sales plans, stock records or transport documentation.
