The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment in a busy operational environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repair on heavy plant and machinery
- Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) to ensure equipment reliability
- Maintenance of bearings, chains, gearboxes, drives, motors, rollers and hydraulics
- Welding, fabrication, and mechanical fitting where required
- Supporting safe operation through inspections and remedial works
- Working closely with operations to minimise downtime
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
Shift Pattern
- 45-hour working week
- Any 5 days over 7 (rota-based)
- Mix of weekdays and weekends
- Consistent hours with predictable scheduling
Salary & Benefits
- £35,000 – £40,000 basic salary (dependent on experience)
- Overtime available

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
- Background in heavy industrial, manufacturing, utilities, materials handling, or similar environments
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment
- Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 2/3, apprenticeship, or equivalent) preferred
- Practical, safety-conscious, and reliable approach
