Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Inverness
Location: Inverness
Salary: £40,000 – £42,000 basic + on-call & overtime (OTE up to £46,700)
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, days (8:00am – 4:30pm)
The Role
An established industrial manufacturing site in Inverness is looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support site operations across a modern, high-capacity production facility. This is a days-based role offering strong earning potential through a structured on-call rota and overtime.
You’ll be part of a skilled engineering team, responsible for maintaining plant reliability, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdowns
- Fault-find and repair mechanical systems and production equipment
- Work on bearings, belts, chains, drives, and rotating machinery
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Carry out inspections to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently
- Work closely with production to minimise downtime
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety and site procedures
- Complete maintenance records and reports accurately
About You
- Qualified Mechanical Engineer (apprenticeship or relevant mechanical qualification)
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown skills
- Able to work independently and manage your own workload
- Reliable, safety-focused, and proactive in approach
- Comfortable participating in an on-call rota
What’s on Offer
- £40,000 – £42,000 basic salary
- On-call allowance approx. £4,700 (1 in 5 rota)
- Overtime paid at enhanced rates:
- Weekdays: 1.5x
- Week nights & weekend days: 1.75x
- Weekend nights: 2.0x
