Maintenance Engineer
Location: Thornaby
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: £35,000 per annum
We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to support a busy production facility. The site consists of three 50x35m units and is the sole production location in the UK, with limited automation and operator-led machinery. This role is key to ensuring equipment uptime and smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities for the maintenance engineer:
- Carry out reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs on production machinery (approximately 80% reactive, 20% PPM)
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime
- Diagnose and repair faults-most commonly on cutting machinery
- Support general site maintenance including lighting, shutter doors, and building infrastructure
- Order and manage materials and parts needed for production
- Liaise with nearby workshops and external contractors as required
