Maintenance Engineer

We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support and maintain a site with modern automated machinery. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who can hit the ground running, contribute to continuous improvement, and work as part of a well-established engineering team.

You will be working alongside a team of engineers, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, and playing a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability across the operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdowns

  • Maintain and repair automated and conveyor-based machinery

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Diagnose and fault-find on both mechanical and electrical systems

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations

  • Work efficiently to minimise downtime and support production targets

Technical Requirements

Electrical (approx. 40%):

  • Fault finding on sensors, relays, motors

  • Experience with single and three-phase systems

  • PLC fault finding (inputs/outputs, not programming)

Mechanical (approx. 60%):

  • Bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes

  • Pneumatics

  • Welding and basic machining

Machinery Experience:

  • Conveyors (mechanical & electrical)

  • Palletisers

  • Automated sortation systems

About You
  • Apprentice trained or time-served engineer

  • Background in manufacturing, FMCG, or distribution

  • Strong conveyor experience is essential

  • Physically fit and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexible with shift patterns

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ex-forces candidates welcomed

  • Overseas-trained engineers considered on a case-by-case basis (excellent English required)

Shift Pattern

Rotating shifts:

  • Week 1: 6am – 2pm

  • Week 2: 6am – 2pm

  • Week 3: 2pm – 10pm

  • Week 4: 6pm – 2am

Plus one 8-hour Sunday shift every 4 weeks
42 hours per week

Salary & Benefits
  • Salary: £46,473.96

  • Overtime paid at time and a quarter (limited requirement)
