We are recruiting a Production Mill Operator (Pulper) to join a well-established industrial manufacturing site based in Lancaster. This is a key, standalone role within the production team, ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, hands-on work, and learning complex machinery.
The Role
You will provide pulper and mill support to ensure consistent product quality, equipment reliability, and efficient factory output. Working independently, you'll be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor pulping machinery to ensure smooth and efficient production
- Control and audit operating costs against centreline settings
- Accurately record production output, downtime, and performance data
- Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and daily FLT checks
- Troubleshoot day-to-day operational issues
- Adhere strictly to quality, health & safety, and site procedures
Desirable: Operator Experience Or Ex Forces
Training & Onboarding
- Day 1: Health & safety, HR induction, team introductions
- Day 2: SOPs, procedures, and risk assessments
- Day 3 onwards: Job familiarisation with a buddy
- Up to 3 months of weekday training before moving onto shifts
- Weekly catch-ups and monthly probation reviews
- Ongoing accredited training (FLT, cranes, MEWP, IOSH, confined space, first aid, and more)
Pay & Benefits
- £13.63 per hour
- Overtime available weekly if desired
- Saturday: time and a half | Sunday: double time
- Salary increase scheduled for February 2026
- After probation: Monthly household product allowance
