A leading UK-based manufacturing business within the industrial sector is looking to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its established engineering team. This role is critical to maintaining world-class manufacturing standards, with a strong focus on plant reliability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You will be working in a fast-paced factory environment, supporting production through effective reactive and preventative maintenance.
The Role
Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing planned maintenance across a range of mechanical and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reacting to and resolving plant breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance (PPM)
- High-level mechanical fault finding with basic electrical diagnostics
- Working on hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, valves, drives and machine shop equipment
- Welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) and use of lathes and mills where required
- Electrical fault finding at a basic level (sensors, 3-phase motors, safe isolation)
- Accurately recording work orders, breakdowns, parts used and time taken
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and plant reliability reviews
- Ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety, quality and environmental standards
- Must be happy to work a permanent nights shift (39 hours a week)
What We’re Looking For
- Apprentice-trained Maintenance Engineer (UK experience essential)
- Multi-skilled background (mechanical or electrical bias)
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or factory environment
- Strong fault-finding and breakdown experience
- Electrically biased engineers: comfortable with mechanical maintenance
- Mechanically biased engineers: must read electrical schematics and fault-find sensors & 3-phase motors
- Steady career history
- Ideally living within 45 minutes commute
