Job Description
Location: Edinburgh City Centre
Salary: £38,798 + bonus & benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week (typically 9–5, including 1 weekend per month on a rota)
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager to lead the maintenance and facilities function at a high-profile, city-centre visitor attraction. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on planning, people management, and operational excellence.
The role is approximately 75% leadership and planning and 25% hands-on technical support, ideal for an experienced Engineering Manager or an Engineering Supervisor ready to step into management.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate, and manage the site maintenance team

Allocate and oversee daily workloads and priorities

Manage external contractors and specialist service providers

Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation

Produce, review, and maintain risk assessments and safe systems of work

Plan and schedule preventative maintenance using a CMMS system

Respond to and oversee resolution of major breakdowns and faults

Maintain all facilities and technical systems across the attraction
Systems & Equipment
You'll have responsibility for a diverse and interesting range of assets, including:

Facilities & building services (HVAC, air conditioning, generators, pumps, emergency lighting)

Theatre & AV systems (sound, lighting, projection)

Mechanical ride systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and motor-driven equipment
About You

Background in electrical or mechanical engineering

Recognised engineering qualification (electrical or mechanical)

Experience in facilities, building services, industrial, forces, theatre, or hospitality environments

Confident leader with strong communication skills

Comfortable working in a guest-facing environment

Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and risk assessment processes
