We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Assistant Branch Manager to join a busy trade branch in Bridgwater. Working closely with the Branch Manager, you'll support the day-to-day running of the trade counter and warehouse, helping to deliver excellent customer service, maintain high operational standards, and drive branch performance. This is a hands-on role within a small, close-knit team of three, ideal for someone who enjoys being customer-facing and is ready to take the next step in their career. There is genuine progression available, with the previous Assistant Manager having recently been promoted into the Branch Manager role.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Branch Manager in the daily operation of the branch
  • Deliver a high level of customer service at the trade counter
  • Maintain standards across the trade counter and warehouse
  • Ensure health & safety compliance across the site
  • Lead by example within a small team environment
  • Assist in achieving branch performance and sales targets
  • Provide cover for the Branch Manager when required
  • Complete administrative tasks, audits, reporting and sales activity

About you

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing environment
  • Comfortable working in a small team and covering operational duties
  • Proactive, motivated and confident dealing with customers
  • Willing and able to step up and support branch leadership when required
  • Desirable: Trade counter experience (e.g. Screwfix, B&Q, Homebase or similar)
