My client is seeking a proactive, hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our permanent night-shift engineering team at our large-scale manufacturing facility in Essex. This is a newly created role to support increased site coverage as part of ongoing investment and growth.
Working within a highly automated manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across production plant and site services. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and supporting continuous improvement across complex, high-speed production lines. This is a multi-skilled role with a strong mechanical bias. As the only engineer on nights at times, you’ll need basic electrical fault-finding capability alongside strong mechanical expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on production plant and associated services
- Must be ideally apprentice trained with relevant engineering qualifications
- Strong mechanical skills – hydraulics, pneumatics, changing belts, bearings, chains
- Assist with machinery installations and upgrades alongside project teams
- Work collaboratively within a multi-skilled night-shift engineering team
- Comfortable working independently on nights
