The Role
We are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead all on-site engineering activities within a highly automated manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, you will have full responsibility for maintenance performance, compliance, and continuous improvement across the site, managing a team of up to 10 direct reports. This is a leadership-focused role with strong technical oversight, requiring a manager who can balance people development, operational delivery, and engineering best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety, Health & Environment
- Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Promote a safety-first culture across the engineering function.
- People Leadership
- Lead, develop, and performance-manage the engineering team.
- Drive training, coaching, and succession planning.
- Maintenance & Reliability
- Deliver effective planned, reactive, and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Improve equipment reliability, availability, and maintenance standards.
- Oversee critical spares, stores management, and asset care.
- Systems & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy and effective use of the CMMS.
- Maintain legislative and engineering compliance across the site.
- Set and monitor quality standards for all maintenance activity.
- Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes, and people.
- Support on-site projects and contribute to daily operational meetings.
- Work cross-functionally to align engineering priorities with operational needs.
Equipment & Technical Environment
You will oversee maintenance of a wide range of automated and process equipment, including:
- Conveyors and material handling systems
- Automated packaging and robotic systems
- Process and thermal equipment
Common fault areas include PLC I/O, sensors, relays, control panels, three-phase systems, inverters, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, belts, chains, and motors.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in an Engineering Manager or Maintenance Manager role
- Strong background within a factory or manufacturing environment
- Engineering qualification (apprenticeship, HNC, HND, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of maintenance strategy, compliance, and reliability
- Confident people leader with experience managing multi-skilled teams
- Comfortable working in a clean, high-volume production environment
