Job Role of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
A fantastic opportunity which is not to be missed by a strong Mechanical Maintenance Engineer has come to the forefront. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established industrial manufacturing business within the FMCG sector, working in a fast-paced production environment.
The successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will become a key member of the engineering team, responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability and performance of production machinery across the site.
You will be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on a range of industrial production machinery. You will play an important role in minimising downtime and ensuring production continues to operate safely and efficiently.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Mechanical engineering bias is essential.
- Previous Mechanical Maintenance Engineering experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Must hold a Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Hands‑on experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs within a fast‑paced industrial environment.
Requirements for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Strong hands‑on mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding experience.
- Experience maintaining industrial production machinery.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and identify root causes of equipment failures.
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Experience responding to mechanical breakdowns and completing efficient repairs.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a methodical approach to maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- Recognised Level 3 NVQ / City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering qualification.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience within the FMCG sector.
- Experience working within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of predictive or condition‑based maintenance.
- Experience with bearings, motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes and other industrial mechanical equipment.
- Previous UK Maintenance Engineering experience.
