A hands-on and forward-thinking Lead Engineer is required to take responsibility for engineering operations across modern packaging and manufacturing lines within a growing, highly regulated business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who also thrives in leadership, planning, and continuous improvement.

The role involves leading and developing a small but growing engineering team, overseeing daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and long-term reliability of equipment and systems across both Manufacturing and Packaging departments.

Key Responsibilities for the lead engineer:
  • Provide hands-on engineering support across all machinery, equipment, and plant.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Engineers and Technicians.
  • Plan and coordinate daily tasks, shift schedules, and preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and perform reactive maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Deliver continuous improvement projects using lean and agile manufacturing methods.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and manage service contracts and equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs, maintenance records, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all activities comply with GMP, Health & Safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Represent the Engineering team in cross-functional meetings and planning.
  • Support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) processes.
  • Manage on-site inventory and sourcing of spare parts and materials.
What we are looking for in a lead engineer:
  • Experience in a hands-on engineering role within a regulated manufacturing environment (pharmaceuticals, FMCG, food, or similar).
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of GMP, Health & Safety, and quality compliance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with packaging and production equipment is desirable.
  • Comfortable leading change and supporting business growth through engineering best practices.
