A leading insurance organisation is looking to recruit a Senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET into a growing technology function.
This is a hands-on role focused on test automation, manual testing, Agile delivery and improving the quality of business critical software platforms.
The successful candidate will work closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, delivery leads and offshore testing teams to ensure high quality releases across a modern product environment.
The client is looking for someone who has developed through a technical testing or SDET route and is still comfortable being hands on with automation scripts, test cases, defect management and delivery detail.
This is not a purely strategic or management focused role.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and execute manual and automated test cases across functional, integration and regression testing.
- Create, maintain and enhance automated test scripts using Selenium, Katalon or similar UI automation tools.
- Work within Agile Scrum teams across sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Support shift left testing practices and help introduce automation earlier in the development lifecycle.
- Manage defects through to resolution, working closely with development teams to identify root cause and improve release quality.
- Support business users with acceptance testing where required.
- Work with Dev Ops and engineering teams to resolve environment, deployment, and pipeline related issues.
- Collaborate with offshore testing teams, providing guidance and support around day to day testing activity.
- Contribute to improvements in test coverage, automation coverage, regression packs and overall testing standards.
- Key experience required
- Strong experience in software testing, covering both manual testing and test automation.
- Previous experience as a QA Automation Engineer, Senior QA Engineer, SDET, Automation Tester or Quality Engineer.
- Hands on automation experience with Selenium, Katalon or similar UI automation tools.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum delivery teams.
- Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops aligned delivery.
- Experience with test management tools such as Azure Test Plans, Jira, Zephyr, Xray or similar.
- Strong defect management, test case design and regression testing experience.
- Ability to work closely with technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Useful experience
- Insurance, financial services or regulated sector experience.
- Experience testing workflow, policy, claims, underwriting or business process driven applications.
- Experience working with offshore testing teams.
- Exposure to low code, rules based or enterprise workflow platforms.
- Relevant testing certifications would be beneficial but are not essential.
- Profile
This role would suit a hands on Senior QA Automation Engineer or SDET who enjoys working closely with engineering teams and business users.
The client needs someone who can contribute directly to testing and automation delivery, rather than someone focused only on strategy, governance or line management.
