Working with a leading Insurance business who are urgently seeking an Infrastructure engineer to support their continued transformation. We're looking for a well-rounded Infrastructure Support Engineer to join a growing team supporting a complex, enterprise-scale environment across networking, Wintel infrastructure, and Azure cloud services. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid networking foundation who is either already working in Azure or actively building cloud expertise. You'll play a key role in maintaining critical systems while also getting exposure to ongoing improvements and project work. Working as part of a close-knit infrastructure team, you'll provide 2nd/3rd line support across a broad technical landscape. The environment covers both on-premise platforms and Azure, giving you the opportunity to work across traditional and modern infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Supporting and maintaining core network infrastructure, including switching, firewalls, and cloud networking
- Managing incidents, service requests, and escalations in line with SLAs
- Monitoring system performance and ensuring stability across infrastructure services
- Working across on-prem and Azure environments, supporting hybrid architecture
- Assisting with patching, upgrades, and general platform maintenance
- Contributing to problem management and root cause analysis
- Supporting security initiatives, including vulnerability remediation
- Collaborating with the Service Desk and providing guidance where required
- Getting involved in automation and shift-left initiatives to improve efficiency
- Supporting business continuity testing and resilience planning
- Maintaining accurate technical documentation
Technology
- Networking: Cisco (routing & switching), Meraki, firewalls (Checkpoint / Firepower), wireless technologies
- Infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft SQL
- Virtualisation: VMware and hyperconverged platforms (e.g. Nutanix)
- Security & Access: Defender for Endpoint, BitLocker, privileged access tools
- Citrix technologies: including DaaS and load balancing (NetScaler)
Key Background
- Strong grounding in networking (Cisco and/or Meraki)
- Experience in a 2nd or 3rd line infrastructure support role
- Exposure to both on-prem and Azure environments
- Understanding of cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure
- Familiarity with Windows server technologies and Active Directory
- Ability to read and interpret SQL queries or scripts
- Experience working within structured IT service environments (ITIL aligned preferred)
Certifications
- Azure AZ-900 (minimum), with AZ-104 or similar highly desirable
- Cisco certifications (CCNA/CCNP)
- VMware, Citrix, or security-related certifications
