A leading specialist (re)insurer is seeking a DevOps Engineer with a development background to join their dynamic and forward-thinking technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of DevOps within development teams, champion best practices, and drive a culture of automation and efficiency across the software delivery lifecycle. You will be helping them implement a strong CI/CD process for a fully automated release process.

The Company: Operating within the Lloyd's and UK insurance markets, our client is a data-driven insurer that combines intelligent automation with deep industry expertise. They work in an agile, fast-paced environment, delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges. Their technology team functions like a startup within an established business, offering autonomy, flexibility, and a strong emphasis on collaboration.

The Role: As a DevOps Engineer, you will embed within development teams, ensuring smooth CI/CD processes, automating software deployments, and optimising cloud-based application delivery. You will bring deep expertise in Java or Node / React development using containerisation and take ownership of DevOps initiatives within engineering teams. This is a hands-on role where you will influence the DevOps culture, introduce best-in-class tooling, and enhance cloud-native development practices. This would not be a platform engineering role so you would not be suitable unless you have formerly been a developer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for Java or Node / React applications.
  • Experience with SonarQube or similar.

  • Optimise observability, logging, and monitoring within development environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve build, deployment, and performance issues.
