Are you an experienced HLTA, Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant who is confident delivering English lessons?
We are looking for a confident and adaptable HLTA / Cover Supervisor to work with young people aged 14β19 in a specialist SEN setting.
This is a varied role and would suit someone who enjoys having more responsibility than a traditional Teaching Assistant position, but who is also happy to remain handsβon with pupils and support wherever needed.
The role
- Delivering English lessons and literacy-based learning
- Leading classes and small groups when required
- Providing cover across other subjects
- Supporting teachers as an HLTA / Teaching Assistant
- Working 1:1 and with small groups of young people
- Helping pupils remain engaged, regulated and focused on learning
- Adapting your approach to meet individual SEN needs
- Supporting young people aged 14β19
This isn't a role where you'll be expected to sit in the background.
We need someone who is confident taking the lead in a classroom, particularly with English, while being equally comfortable stepping into a support role when needed.
Who are we looking for?
- HLTA
- Cover Supervisor
- Senior Teaching Assistant
- SEN Teaching Assistant
- Learning Support Assistant
- Learning Mentor
- English Tutor
- Functional Skills Tutor
- Unqualified Teacher
Previous experience within SEN, SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or a specialist education setting would be particularly valuable.
Most importantly, you'll need to be confident with English, comfortable leading a class and able to build positive relationships with young people who may need a different approach to learning.
Do I need QTS?
No. QTS is not required for this position.
We're much more interested in finding someone with the right classroom experience, confidence and attitude.
If you've reached the point where you're regularly delivering lessons, interventions or classroom cover as an HLTA or Cover Supervisor and you're looking for a role with more variety and responsibility, we'd particularly like to hear from you.
