Job Description

We are recruiting a Bids Manager – Energy, on an initial fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity, to run until the end of September 2027.

This role will manage strategic Energy sector bid opportunities across tender and presentation stages, working closely with Bid Partners and key stakeholders to advise on bid strategy, messaging, structure and content direction.

The role sits within our Central Bids team, which forms part of the Business Development department and is made up of bids specialists from both the legal and other sectors.

The team is spread across our UK offices and this role can be based out of Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow or London.

Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to take on a senior role within an established, high‑performing bids function, supporting strategic Energy sector opportunities while also coaching and managing a Bids Executive.

Our standard working hours are 9.30am‑5.30pm, and we operate a 3 days in the office, 2 days from home working model, however as an inclusive employer, we are willing to consider any flexible working requests.

Responsibilities include

  • Managing strategic Energy sector bid opportunities across tender, qualification and presentation stages.
  • Working closely with Bid Partners and key stakeholders to advise on bid strategy, messaging, structure and content direction.
  • Coaching presentation teams and supporting stakeholders through client pitch preparation.
  • Coaching and managing a Bids Executive, guiding and supporting junior team members, including reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.

  • We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience:
  • Extensive experience managing bids and advising on bid approach and strategy, ideally within a legal services firm.
  • Experience writing and editing copy for client‑facing documents, with the ability to create clear, compelling and consistent bid responses.
  • Experience managing strategic tender opportunities from qualification through to submission and presentation stage.
  • Experience coaching presentation teams and supporting stakeholders through client pitch preparation.
  • Experience managing, guiding or supporting junior team members, including reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
