We are currently looking to recruit a talented Infrastructure Projects lawyer with 4-6 years PQE to join our expanding Projects Team in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office.

Our Team

Leveraging a comprehensive network that spans Europe, Africa, The Gulf and Asia Pacific, the projects practice at Pinsent Masons LLP offers specialists in all of the key sub-sectors including energy, infrastructure, and real estate developments. The Tier 1 Scottish infrastructure team is highly active across the UK and Ireland, advising a broad mix of private and public sector clients on infrastructure projects across all markets. Our work ranges from the procurement/bid phase, through construction, into operation and now onto handback and expiry.

Work highlights:

  • Advised the University of Sussex on its procurement of 1,900 beds of student accommodation on their Falmer campus (West Slope) in partnership with Balfour Beatty.
  • Advised LSE and the Universities of Birmingham and Essex on the delivery of c 3,500 new student beds in 2021.
  • Winner of the Property Week Student Accommodation Awards Professional Team of the Year 2020, 2021 and 2023.
  • Advised Equitix and Equans as the successful bidder on the Kingston University student accommodation project.
  • Advising the Ministry of Justice in respect of its portfolio of PFI prisons and its framework for procurement of prison operation contracts, including prison expansion, handback and expiry.
  • Advising the FM Contractor on the recent Velindre Cancer Centre Welsh MIM scheme.
  • Advising the lenders on the first two education projects to reach financial close under the Welsh Education Partnership.

The Candidate Required

We are now looking to appoint an ambitious qualified lawyer with 4-6 years PQE who wishes to advance their abilities and knowledge at a top tier international law practice. The successful applicant will primarily support Chris on student accommodation, EV and district heating but may also be involved in University-focused net zero initiatives and will be expected to support the wider Scottish team on PPP and general infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. Where they are not based in our Edinburgh office, they should expect to split their time between our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. The successful applicant will also benefit from opportunities to travel to university campuses around the UK.

The successful applicant will:

  • Ideally have gained experience in a large commercial firm working on long-term infrastructure partnership projects, preferably with experience of public procurement processes.
  • Have a strong academic background, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Be comfortable leading client meetings and calls with good experience of both.
  • Have good commercial awareness and be client focused.
  • Be adaptable, a quick learner and comfortable working on high value, complicated transactions.
  • Be a confident team player with the ability to forge strong working relationships with colleagues in an agile environment.
  • Be well-organised and have good project management skills.
