The Opportunity
Pinsent Masons’ General Counsel’s Office plays a vital role in helping the firm enable safely, supporting our global practice with expert risk, regulatory and legal guidance. With over 80 risk and compliance specialists across the UK, Europe and Asia, we partner closely with lawyers and business teams to ensure the firm continues to operate with confidence, integrity and strategic alignment.
This is a truly global role that offers the chance to influence risk management practices across multiple jurisdictions and work closely with senior partners and stakeholders. In this role, you will:
- Provide advice on potential conflicts of interest across new clients and matters.
- Analyse data within our conflicts management systems (Intapp Open) to support robust conflict resolution.
- Work closely with our Deputy General Counsel (Risk & Regulatory) and Senior Conflicts Manager on complex and sensitive issues.
- Support firmwide compliance with regulatory requirements, including client terms, engagement arrangements and broader risk obligations.
- Contribute to key projects such as system upgrades, new office openings and the development of global policies and processes.
- Deliver training and guidance to colleagues across the firm, including new joiner sessions and practice‑specific risk training.
- Act as an escalation point for our Conflicts Search Team, offering supervision, feedback and quality assurance.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can bring both expertise and a commercial, solutions‑focused mindset. Ideally you will have:
- Qualification as a solicitor with 3–5 PQE but we are open to considering applications outside of this range.
- Prior experience advising on conflict issues in a commercial law firm, or strong commercial awareness and motivation to transition into conflicts and compliance.
- Knowledge of the SRA conflict rules.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to work at pace and manage competing demands.
- A collaborative style and willingness to support, guide and mentor junior colleagues.
- Ideally, exposure to US‑style conflicts rules and/or SRA regulatory frameworks (not essential).
