OCU is delivering major electrical infrastructure, substation, and grid connection projects across the UK, helping to support the country's evolving energy network. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in managing the commercial performance of these projects, ensuring strong cost control, contractual compliance, and successful financial outcomes throughout the project lifecycle. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex NEC contracts, influence commercial strategy, and work closely with operational and client teams on nationally significant infrastructure projects. What You'll Do
- Lead commercial activities across multiple infrastructure and power projects from tender stage through to final account.
- Manage NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including Early Warning Notices, Compensation Events, and contractual change management.
- Drive cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting to support project performance.
- Prepare, negotiate, and agree subcontract packages, variations, and final accounts.
- Build strong relationships with clients, operational teams, and supply chain partners.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to protect and enhance project outcomes.
- Produce accurate cost reports and commercial forecasts for senior stakeholders.
- Support and mentor junior commercial team members, helping to develop capability across the function.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within utilities, power, infrastructure, construction, or civil engineering environments.
- Strong experience managing NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, particularly Option C arrangements.
- Excellent understanding of cost management, forecasting, budgeting, and commercial reporting.
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.
- Experience managing subcontract procurement, commercial negotiations, and final accounts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Bonus if you are professionally accredited with RICS, CICES, or a similar professional body.
- It would be great if you have experience working on electrical infrastructure, substation, or energy projects.
- It would be great if you've worked within framework agreements or regulated utility environments.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior commercial professionals would be advantageous.
