Pinpoint Resourcing are currently working with an exciting business based in Waltham Abbey to source an Accountant to join their team.
Duties
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support financial reporting across multiple entities, including month-end close, balance sheet integrity, statutory compliance, and process improvements. You will help deliver timely management information, support the FY2026 audit, and contribute to the Budget 2027 cycle. This role suits a part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or experienced accountant looking to build technical skills, gain exposure to Business Central, and progress within a growing finance team.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Financial Accounting
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records across a number of entities within the group.
- Assist in the delivery of month-end and year-end close, ensuring all reporting deadlines are achieved.
- Ensure all financial data is recorded in line with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Post and review more complex transactions for the holding entity, applying appropriate judgement.
- Process and reconcile intercompany recharges on a monthly basis.
- Oversee bank postings and complete balance reconciliations for the holding company.
- Balance Sheet Control
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations across assigned areas.
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure reconciling items are cleared promptly.
- Maintain clear supporting documentation and audit-ready schedules.
- Proactively identify control gaps and suggest process enhancements.
- VAT & Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, supporting wider statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure adherence to HMRC guidelines and maintain strong internal controls.
- Respond to HMRC queries and information requests when required.
- Audit & Reporting Support
- Assist with audit preparation, including reconciling legacy system data (Sage) to current Business Central balances.
- Provide documentation and responses to external auditors via audit portals.
- Support statutory reporting and year-end financial statement processes.
- Systems & Data Integrity
- Maintain and update system data, ensuring consistency across platforms (e.g. customer records, payroll data, employee information).
- Support data alignment and reconciliation to enable efficient reporting and review processes.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with the annual budgeting cycle by inputting data into forecasting systems.
- Prepare supporting analysis, track version changes, and perform variance analysis against prior periods where needed.
- Payroll & Fixed Assets
- Post monthly payroll journals and reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts across multiple entities.
- Support fixed asset processes, including capital additions, disposals and depreciation.
- Assist with accounting for leased and owned vehicles where applicable.
- Stock & Operational Support
- Support the Financial Controller during annual stock takes, including data capture within inventory systems.
- Provide financial input to operational teams, including support for bid submissions and ad-hoc queries.
- Business Continuity & Team Support
- Provide cover across the finance function during periods of absence.
- Support the team with additional tasks as required, particularly during holiday cover periods.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Financial Accountant, Assistant Accountant, Management Accountant or similar finance role.
- Should have a strong understanding of journals, accruals and prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end accounting processes, VAT accounting.
- Part qualified or qualified by experience.
- Knowledge of MS Business Central desirable but not essential.

£35,000 - £40,000
