About the Role Pinner Site Services is looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to join our team on a busy construction project in Berlin.
The role involves overseeing health and safety across groundworks, civil engineering, piling, foundations and reinforced concrete works , ensuring compliance with site requirements, company procedures and applicable German health and safety regulations.
We are looking for a hands-on professional who can maintain high safety standards, identify risks and work closely with Site Managers, supervisors and operatives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily site safety inspections, audits and walkarounds.
Identify hazards, unsafe practices and implement corrective actions.
Prepare, review and maintain Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Ensure compliance with German H&S regulations, site rules and safety procedures.
Deliver site inductions, Toolbox Talks and safety briefings.
Monitor PPE compliance, plant operations, lifting activities, excavations and working at height.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, preparing reports and corrective action plans.
Maintain accurate H&S records, inspection reports and safety documentation.
Monitor permits to work and ensure appropriate safety controls are in place.
Coordinate with Site Managers, supervisors, subcontractors and client representatives.
Attend H&S meetings and support site audits.
Promote a positive safety culture across the workforce.
Essential Requirements
Fluent Romanian and good working English – mandatory.
Previous experience as a Health & Safety Manager, H&S Advisor or H&S Officer within construction.
Recognised H&S qualification, such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent .
Strong knowledge of construction hazards, risk assessments and safe working practices.
Experience with RAMS, site inspections, incident investigations and Toolbox Talks.
Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
Confidence enforcing safety standards and addressing unsafe behaviour.
Ability to work independently in a busy construction environment.
Good Microsoft Office skills.
Desirable Experience
Experience in groundworks, civil engineering, piling or reinforced concrete construction.
Previous experience on German construction sites.
Knowledge of German H&S legislation and DGUV requirements.
German language skills.
Experience working with multinational construction teams.
